A group of Irish BDSMers were sitting around the pub one night moaning about how there wasnt any fetish night in Dublin, and that we all had to go overseas for our fetish. The someone said, “fuck it, lets run our own”. So we did.

It wasnt as easy as all that. We quickly found out that people management was a skill to have, Dom on Dom issues to deal with, as well as venue resistance to full-on fetish. Our management team swiftly fell from a dozen folk willing to do stuff to three folk willing to do stuff. And then it was two.

This was not a bad thing as it made things easier to do rather than trying to organise via committe, but it did make the running of the event more labour intensive.

We’ve now resolved such teething problems and recruited some totally outstanding BDSM community minded folks to help us with running the dublin event. Without the team, the quality of the organisation of the night would suffer greatly.

We’ve ploughed sheckles make from events into improving Nimhneach (its a zero-profit affair), with things such as better posters, wristies, easily modified equipment for bondage and such like. We’re on the constant lookout for ideas for improving the nights (for a decent price and effort!)

Everybody gets something from Nimhneach fetish nights, but the key is the continuing support of folk willing to brave the cold to show up at Nimhneach nights, in all sorts of amazing outfits. It’s our reward for running the night.
